Thanos Mathiopoulos

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Thanos leads all aspects of Demand Energy’s activities related to finance, accounting, control, tax and risk management. Before joining Demand Energy, Thanos served as Head of Economic Evaluation for Enel Green Power (EGP) where he oversaw the financial evaluation of all greenfield and M&A opportunities around the world.

The opportunities included projects and companies with more than 15 GW of renewable energy projects in various technologies and countries across all continents. v

Prior to that he held a similar role as Head of Financial Valuation for EGP for Europe and Greece. Before entering the Financial Valuation team of EGP, Thanos served as an integral part of the startup team in EGP in Greece, working in different project management roles covering a number of activities including business development, operations and construction.

Previous to EGP Thanos worked as an engineer conducting load analysis calculations and supporting the certification of wind turbines at Garrad Hassan and Partners (now DNV GL) in the UK. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from the University of Loughborough, UK. Thanos also received several awards from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a scholarship for his studies at the University of Loughborough.
