Mike FifeChief Technology Officer
Mike leads Demand Energy’s technology development team which develops control algorithms, numerical simulations, and software analytics for energy applications. A key element of his responsibility is DEN’s real-time optimal control algorithm that simultaneously provides the ideal combination of energy cost savings with battery lifetime management.
Prior to joining Demand Energy in 2014, Mike was an Engineering Director at PV Powered (acquired by Advanced Energy in 2010). Under his leadership, PV Powered designed commercial inverters with the highest levels of reliability and efficiency in the industry.
Prior to working in the solar industry, Mike was a lead reliability consulting engineer at Exponent. He began his career at the Air Force Research Laboratory Electric Propulsion Group and NASA, where he oversaw the design, development, and qualification of mission-critical propulsion systems for Air Force satellites and developed key components of flight control systems for the first generation of fly-by-wire high performance fighter aircraft.
Mike is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mike has authored over 40 peer-reviewed technical papers and articles and holds several U.S. patents in the area of renewable energy.
