Vice President of Engineering & Software Development

Jim leads Demand Energy’s engineering and software development teams, which develop and certify product hardware, software, and systems for energy storage. Key elements of his responsibility include the DEN.OS energy management software platform and its cyber-secure interplay with grid distributed energy assets.

He joined the Demand Energy leadership team in April 2014. Jim’s career includes over 24 years of experience with Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies in a variety of positions including Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Worldwide Technology Reuse and Platforms Manager, R&D Manager, and Cellular Network Test Business-Unit Manager.

In 2005, Jim became the R&D Director and Business-Unit Manager of a Venture Corporation startup developing a family of wireless mesh networking systems for doing large-scale wireless sensing/control and precise GPS-like location tracking. The company’s products revolutionized worker safety and productivity in the hazardous work of underground mining. The innovations resulted in Jim being selected as one of four finalists for the World Technology Award in which he is a Fellow.

Jim is the inventor on patent claims covering 36 unique inventions and has written many papers that advance the state of the art in wireless, distributed computing, network monitoring and SCADA.
