Chief Executive Officer & President
Gregg leads the development of overall business strategy, helping mold a high performance and innovative culture, and integrating the extraordinary contributions of the broader team. Prior to joining Demand Energy in 2012, Gregg served as President of Advanced Energy’s Solar Business Unit – a division he rapidly grew into the market share leader in commercial and utility inverters in North America. He achieved similar success during his tenure as CEO of PV Powered from 2007-2010 (acquired by Advanced Energy in 2010). Under his leadership, PV Powered increased revenues from $5M to $80M and claimed market share dominance of the commercial solar inverter market. Gregg also served as Vice President of Hewlett Packard’s successful Printing and Imaging Group, where he managed $1B+ businesses spanning both enterprise and consumer segments and oversaw HP’s acquisition and integration of several companies. In addition to his general management roles, Gregg led strategic technology platform development (HW, FW, SW and online services teams) supporting multiple business sectors. He managed worldwide R&D teams of 300+ engineers and led global procurement and operational efforts at HP. Gregg received his BSME from the University of Washington, and was awarded an Hewlett Packard Fellowship to attend Stanford University, where he received his Masters in Engineering.
Chief Technology Officer
Mike leads Demand Energy’s technology development team which develops control algorithms, numerical simulations, and software analytics for energy applications. A key element of his responsibility is DEN’s real-time optimal control algorithm that simultaneously provides the ideal combination of energy cost savings with battery lifetime management. Prior to joining Demand Energy in 2014, Mike was an Engineering Director at PV Powered (acquired by Advanced Energy in 2010). Under his leadership, PV Powered designed commercial inverters with the highest levels of reliability and efficiency in the industry. Prior to working in the solar industry, Mike was a lead reliability consulting engineer at Exponent. He began his career at the Air Force Research Laboratory Electric Propulsion Group and NASA, where he oversaw the design, development, and qualification of mission-critical propulsion systems for Air Force satellites and developed key components of flight control systems for the first generation of fly-by-wire high performance fighter aircraft. Mike is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mike has authored over 40 peer-reviewed technical papers and articles and holds several U.S. patents in the area of renewable energy.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Thanos leads all aspects of Demand Energy’s activities related to finance, accounting, control, tax and risk management. Before joining Demand Energy, Thanos served as Head of Economic Evaluation for Enel Green Power (EGP) where he oversaw the financial evaluation of all greenfield and M&A opportunities around the world. The opportunities included projects and companies with more than 15 GW of renewable energy projects in various technologies and countries across all continents. Prior to that he held a similar role as Head of Financial Valuation for EGP for Europe and Greece. Before entering the Financial Valuation team of EGP, Thanos served as an integral part of the startup team in EGP in Greece, working in different project management roles covering a number of activities including business development, operations and construction. Previous to EGP Thanos worked as an engineer conducting load analysis calculations and supporting the certification of wind turbines at Garrad Hassan and Partners (now DNV GL) in the UK. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from the University of Loughborough, UK. Thanos also received several awards from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a scholarship for his studies at the University of Loughborough.
Chief Commercial Officer
Brian leads the team responsible for sales, marketing, channel partnership, and market development at Demand Energy. In particular, he provides thought leadership for integrating the size and expertise of Enel Green Power (EGP) with the innovative, market-oriented culture of Demand Energy – strategically creating a powerful combination in the marketplace. He led the company through its acquisition by EGP and has a proven of growing and funding conceptual stage ideas into developed revenue and profit generating operations. Prior to joining Demand Energy, Brian provided strategic insight, financial modeling, and sales strategies as a consultant for CEOs of a number of renewable energy clients. Brian was a founding member and served as Chief Financial Officer for Green Charge Networks (GCN) from 2010 to 2014 where he developed, staffed, and financed operations for the distributed energy/battery storage application company (acquired by ENGIE in 2016). This included leading the $56m investment by K Road Power as well developing the Power Efficiency Agreement (PEA) structure. Earlier in his career, he helped grow several financial services businesses including starting the Professional Services business for Moody’s Analytics in Asia from the ground up. He holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS, Finance and Marketing from Fairfield University.
Vice President of Market & Business Development
Doug leads Demand Energy’s Business Development group and is responsible for establishing new markets and emerging business cases that leverage the power of energy storage – solving real world grid challenges and supporting expanding renewable energy integration across the grid. Doug co-founded Demand Energy and is an energy professional who has worked globally for 28 years. He is a pioneer in smart grid technologies with a focus on smart metering and intelligent energy storage. Prior to joining Demand Energy, Doug was a Vice President at Itron (a global leader in smart meter technology) where he held various executive positions and helped Itron to become a world leader in smart grid systems. Doug’s experience in developing emerging energy technology solutions has helped utilities world-wide enhance their business systems and operational efficiencies. For the past eight years, Doug has worked extensively on how energy storage can help with the expansion of renewable energy systems and develop power grids for the future.
Vice President of Global Operations
Shane co-founded Demand Energy in 2008. AS VP of Global Operations, he is responsible for portfolio strategy, product management and technical sales, and provides the DE Team with business modeling and analytics. In addition, he leads activities for manufacturing, application engineering and system implementation as well networks operations services, maintenance services and customer support. Shane’s past professional positions include Vice President of Professional Services at Ciena and Vice President of Customer Service & Support at World Wide Packets. At World Wide Packets, he developed and led a robust global support, training, and professional services division as well as global Systems Engineering and APAC business development. Shane spent the first 10 years of his career at Douglas County PUD. His expertise in electric utilities and telecoms spans the implementation of large scale IP-based optical networks, utility automation and SCADA projects. He holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering and has a Professional Engineering license (PE).

Vice President of Engineering & Software Development
Jim leads Demand Energy’s engineering and software development teams, which develop and certify product hardware, software, and systems for energy storage. Key elements of his responsibility include the DEN.OS energy management software platform and its cyber-secure interplay with grid distributed energy assets. He joined the Demand Energy leadership team in April 2014. Jim’s career includes over 24 years of experience with Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies in a variety of positions including Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Worldwide Technology Reuse and Platforms Manager, R&D Manager, and Cellular Network Test Business-Unit Manager. In 2005, Jim became the R&D Director and Business-Unit Manager of a Venture Corporation startup developing a family of wireless mesh networking systems for doing large-scale wireless sensing/control and precise GPS-like location tracking. The company’s products revolutionized worker safety and productivity in the hazardous work of underground mining. The innovations resulted in Jim being selected as one of four finalists for the World Technology Award in which he is a Fellow. He is the inventor on patent claims covering 36 unique inventions and has written many papers that advance the state of the art in wireless, distributed computing, network monitoring and SCADA.
Vice President of Marketing & Channel Development
Erick is leading our efforts to integrate the Demand Energy brand and remarkable customer experience into Enel and Enel Green Power while increasing awareness and introducing our technology to potential customers and partners. Prior to joining Demand Energy in 2012 Erick was part of the leadership team that turned around and built PV Powered into the leading solar inverter company in North America. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing at PV Powered, Erick hired the teams and crafted the positioning, branding, and industry-leading customer experience that helped fuel the company’s dramatic growth in market share and eventual acquisition by Advanced Energy in 2010. At Advanced Energy, Erick took on the role of VP Business Development, Strategy and Government Affairs, supporting the successful integration of the two solar inverter business units. Prior to PV Powered, Erick spent 10 years at Planar Systems, where in his final assignment as Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Commercial Business Unit, he lead the growth of this internal start up business from zero to $100M in three years. Erick holds a B.S. degree from Oregon State University, and graduated from the Advanced Executive Program of the Kellogg Graduate School of Business Administration at Northwestern University.
